CAP 75 Years

Today, August 28th in 2015 the Civil Air Patrol became a U.S. Air Force Total Force partner. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of CAP serving as an Air Force auxiliary.

With more than 540 single-engine piston airplanes, Civil Air Patrol operates one of the largest fleets in the world. Many aircraft are equipped with sensors or payloads for special missions, such as a tsunami warning public address system for use near the Pacific Ocean. Civil Air Patrol Responds to Wildfires on Maui

The Hawaii Wing of the Civil Air Patrol has been pressed into service to help fight the devastating wildfires on the island of Maui. The CAP has been providing aerial reconnaissance of the fast-moving blaze that has killed more than 36 people and displaced hundreds more.
